#1) The problem with CA is that the state government believes its job is to create jobs instead of providing services. They need to get back to providing services and worry less about creating jobs by expanding government.

#2) I can only dream of getting a pension package that is like those given to state employees. A fireman friend of mine recently retired and received a lump sum payment of $500K in addition to also getting paid 80% of his yearly salary in retirement. This is crazy!

#3) Education. Seriously how much money can we keep giving to Education? We need to stop throwing good money at a bad situation. Unions have ruined the education system since they make it nearly impossible to rid the system of teachers who are phoning it in. And you should check out the statistics and see how much money is paid to administrators in the LAUSD. It is staggering. I think I read somewhere recently that $50K is spent per kid in the LAUSD. I think that should be sufficient to educate someone.

#4) In the history of the world I have yet to see a country, republic, state, etc, tax it's way into prosperity. CA taxes it's people & businesses way to much. If you follow the a dollar through the system you will see lowering taxes leads to increased revenue. When people get taxed to much their knee jerk reaction is not to produce as much since there is less incentive. Call it human nature.

#5) Simply put we are the most liberal state in the Union. It sucks but in a democracy you are going to have different classes since that is the reality of a democracy. If you tax the rich and give to the poor consistently and redistribute wealth what you are going to get is what we got right now. Also if you spend less I.E. don't spend $40M on Pelosi pet projects on some bullshit obscure rodent that resides in SF then you won't have this current economic problem. Basically we are state run by a bunch of spending liberals.

I also think they should have opined that since the US constitution guarantees equal protection under the law, that people in California—even though the initiative process exists—should not be able to vote discrimination into law.

Saying that this does not affect the rights of gays and lesbians is a contradiction. You can't in one breath say "This does not affect the rights of gays and lesbians, it just adds one thing they can't do." It just doesn't make sense.

I believe it was Elle Woods who once said "passion is a key ingredient to the study and practice of law." With passion, or rather compassion, any justice would have looked at this as a matter of one group trying to wordsmith a proposition's argument so as to not label it discriminatory.

Where is Elle when we need her? Getting her nails done, no doubt.

I can't get over this one. It looks so great, and I think the combination of grits and coq au vin is brilliant, especially with gruyere and thyme in them. And yes, it plates very well. I can imagine the flavors and textures of the chicken, grits, and jus all together.
I'm hungry.

CVS is awful, and I'm sad to see them expanding like they have been. They come in and rip out existing interiors to replace them with CVS's awful clusterfuck layout. The worst thing is the disorganized checkout counter with one line that has you standing in aisles where people are trying to shop. Dumb.
